SVEA Bonfire Concert: A Capella Swedish Folk Stories and Songs
SVEA first sang around a campfire on the shores of Lake Superior one moonlit February night in 2017. They create a timeless magic and sense of connection-- to one another and to our Scandinavian roots-- blending four voices in Swedish and English.
Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux, Tina Hegg Raway, Elunia Steckelberg, and Erika Ternes create a timeless magic, reconnecting us to our heritage and to each other through story and song.
The four women of SVEA have plenty of bases covered:
Rose tells stories, Tina bakes, Elunia hits the slopes, and Erika plays just about any instrument with strings. They spend their workdays at a bed and breakfast, a lumber mill, a physical therapy office, and the children’s section of the library respectively.
They live in Grand Marais, Minnesota.
SVEA will sing outside around the bonfire weather permitting. If it is too cold for vocal cords, we'll go inside the bookstore.
This event is in conjunction with the Many Tiny Lights PTA fundraiser for our local Sawtooth Elementary school. Come see our lakefront decorated with hundreds of ice lanterns!
