Anthony Bukoski's short-story collections have been reviewed in The New York Times Book Review, Publisher's Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, the Dallas Morning News, and elsewhere. "Time Between Trains," his fourth collection, was a Booklist Editor's Choice as one of the best fiction books of 2003 for public libraries. The actor Liev Schreiber's reading of the title story aired on National Public Radio. Wisconsin Public Radio on its Chapter A Day program has also broadcast stories from Bukoski's books. About his newest collection, Head of the Lakes: Selected Short Stories, the Minneapolis Star Tribune wrote, "Ghosts, rust, fog and booze lend somber ballast to the haunting, beautiful stories of Anthony Bukoski, all set in his native Superior, Wisconsin . . . Few writers are as masterful . . . in portraying the power of place, for better or worse, in our lives."
Anthony Bukoski's Polish immigrant grandparents settled in Superior, the city he has written about in six books.
